The Vision: Rooted in Education

As the daughter of Haitian immigrants, Valérie or Val, has always understood the power of education not only as a path to opportunity but as a form of access. Growing up in Miami, she was fortunate to receive an exceptional education in both school and life. Family travels broadened her worldview early. She spent her childhood shaping her creativity and sense of altruism through Odyssey of the Mind and Girl Scouts — early experiences that changed her perception of what our minds are capable of and how we can use them in the service of others.

She has always felt the weight of what her parents sacrificed to give her access. And the responsibility to do something worthy of it. Being a lawyer was never going to be enough for her. Which is why she is now charting a career that is a hybrid of the best parts of her professional experience, her education, and her sense of duty.

Her thirteen years as a dancer made her path to intellectual property law almost predictable. Having spent so much time developing her own artistic identity, she knew she wanted to advocate on behalf of others' creative identities and innovations. That interest sparked a career in IP law. Her years of domestic and international trademark prosecution and enforcement, representing clients at every scale, solidified her understanding of this work and deepened her belief in its importance.

At the same time, she never lost sight of her sense of duty. Or the feeling of wanting to leave a mark on this world. That feeling manifested into co-founding LegallyBlack®, with the mission to bridge the gap between underrepresented communities and access to intellectual property education.

Now, six years later, Valérie works at the intersection of IP and equity — toward a more informed generation, one where young creators understand IP and harness it to secure their economic futures.

The Mission: LegallyBlack®

LegallyBlack is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit co-founded in Washington, D.C. in 2020 with the mission to bridge the gap between underrepresented communities and intellectual property education. More than that, it has become a testament to what happens when Valérie's vision, her legal expertise, and her sense of duty collide into something meaningful.

Since assuming her role as Executive Director, Valérie leads a team of nine and has impacted over 1,000 students across nine states, securing workshops with elite institutions and numerous public and charter schools across the country. Through practitioner-led workshops, LegallyBlack advances IP literacy in the United States and beyond.

The Practice: Education-First

Valérie built the firm because LegallyBlack showed her the gap. Founders and entrepreneurs were hungry for real legal counsel — not trademark packages, not quick filings with no explanation — but someone who would actually sit down and explain the work. The Law Office of Val Cambronne, PLLC is that answer. A boutique trademark practice built around one belief: that a client who understands the work is a client who can actually protect what they've built.

  • Search, clearance, registration, and maintenance. The full lifecycle of getting your trademark successfully registered and maintained after registration.

  • When someone infringes on your mark, you need more than a strongly worded email. Val handles monitoring, cease and desist letters, and the follow-through to back them up.

  • This is where we assess what you have, what's protectable, and build a filing strategy that actually fits your business.

  • Infringing content doesn't always require litigation to remove. Val handles takedowns across social media platforms and online marketplaces, quickly and successfully.

Ready to Protect What You've Built?

Whether you're a founder just getting started or a brand ready to enforce, the first step is a conversation.
